How Green is your house?
A home energy tuneup is an analysis of your home's energy use based on age and efficiency of appliances, insulation, orientation, wall area, glass area and many other factors.
The report shows how much you can save by implementing various upgrades or repairs, shows the cost of these improvements and the payback time in years at today's current energy prices.
A homeowner will benefit the most and see the most savings if the home is greater than 10 years old.
A home energy tune-up:
- Increases comfort
- Saves you money
- Adds to a home’s value
- Improves the environment
As opposed to "conservation", a home energy tune-up increases the comfort of the home while reducing energy use and costs.
This is a service developed by CRC Energy Company and uses their proprietary software. There is no other program that gives you this level of detail at this cost.
I have been trained and am certified to conduct the energy tune-up.
The Report contains estimates of the savings, costs and payback for each energy-efficiency recommendation. It identifies the group of improvements that, if financed, will save more on energy bills than it costs. These are the improvements that everyone can make since they require no out-of-pocket cost when financed.
The detailed Recommendations section enables contractors to provide preliminary cost estimates without a visit to your home. It also explains how to get the best energy savings from these improvements by listing related no-cost low-cost measures that you can take. For a home of approximately 2000 square feet, the inspection takes about 1-1/2 hours at the home for data collection or adds about 45 minutes to a typical home inspection. The cost of the inspection is $125 if combined with a standard home inspection or $225 as a stand-alone inspection. Larger homes cost more.
The data is uploaded to the CRC software system and the report is generated. The report can be printed or e-mailed or both. Typically, you will receive your report the evening of the inspection.
